Registrar of Companies

The Registrar of Companies (ROC) is a government authority functioning under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Government of India. The ROC is responsible for the incorporation of companies and Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) in India, maintaining records of these entities, and ensuring that they comply with statutory requirements under the Companies Act, 2013 and the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008.

Each state and union territory in India has its own ROC office, headed by a Registrar, who oversees the filing of various documents such as annual returns, balance sheets, and other statutory forms.
